what should i test in this case is it just the position sensor that i need to replace or is there more to it than that? mainly i dont understand how it could be my PCM because of the location, because i know that the rag caused the problem.i just dont see how it could have messed up the PCM....

Just the position sensor then. Well sometimes the PCM's capasitors leak for no reason. Thats the rotten egg smell. Is there any smell coming from it?
Well if it says thats the problem then change it out.

The cam sensor is located behind the intake cam gear (the one closest to the firewall). Just like Sebba stated, it looks like a hocky puck tucked in there. There's a good chance that the towel yanked it over or just screwed it up. You'll have to remove the timing belt and the cam gear to get to the cam sensor. You'll have to remove the belt so you'll have to redo the timing too. While you're at it, kick your boy in the junk for causing this headache [:@]
