Default somewhat newbie

ok, I know this is probably a stupid and easily answered question, but I wanted to come to the source and ask. I have a 1996 GST spyder with the auto. I know it is only a 4 spd automatic tranny, is this why at around 80mph it is at around 3200 rpm? That just seems high, but it is probably due to it only being a 4spd auto, my 2005 Mazda 3 auto was right about in the same rpm range I think, but I sold it last year and can't remember. So any help would be appreciated, just to know it is SUPPOSED to be up that high at 80 or so.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Good to know and THANKS for answering so fast, I think I got a good deal. It was a one owner, thye had it from new in 1996- june of 2006, i found it on a dealers website and it had only been there a few days. I even had to wait to go test drive it cause it was still getting detailed. I was not looking for a black on black/ conver turbo though! Premium really gets you especially when i am using it to commute 45 miles each way 4days a week to work! I can only manage to get about 25 mpg and was hoping for more. I originally was looking for a regular coupe GS but with only 75000k on this one and it was a one owner, (that had changed the timing belt and such last year per the dealer) it was hard to say no. Plus the dealer had put all new brakes on it, new front rotors, an alignment, and 4 new Yoko's on it, so why not? Could only negotiate so much with the money they had already put into it, and it was only a couple hundred over what edmunds and Kelly bb had. No mods at all which was nice, you never know what some might do to these, but some know what they are doing..lol !

Sounds about right, but you should have that info in your manual.
