sputtering eclipse??

Alright, i have a 97 eclipse gst and it has been sputtering when im driving it. When i go into first it sputters usually and almost stalls out. Then i get it going and it sputters a little bit but i can still drive it. I went to a mechanic and he said to unplug the o2 sensor and it seemed to make it a little better but it still sputters. Then he told me to unplug the throttle control and that made it worse.

Removing the o2 sensor allowed me to get up to about 3500 rpms. eenough to see if my turbo would kick in and i can hear it kick in but it actually slows me down.(i just put on a new turbo) It just feels like its pusshing my car backward. The guy checked my fuel pressure and it was good so he said its probably not the fuel pump. I already know that my o2 sensor is bad but i dont think its causing the problems.

Do u guys think it is the turbo and o2 sensor or something else?

Sry but your mechanic is an idiot, I never heard of an o2 sensor making a car sputter. Do u have a check engine light? Check your plugs and wires and also try unplugging the maf sensor and see how it runs.

Agree 100% with DSM1990. There's serious either fuel deficiency or ignition screw-up. It is largely caused by either MAF sensor or ignition/spark plug/Wiredefects. O2 sensor only helps to keep within limits of optimum air/fuel ratio. Also check all vacuum/boost hoses involved - it may be just this.

i agree check for leaks, because i think its either that or a possible power issue. Maybe check your wiring to the battery as well. But im leaning towarda large leak
