Turbo Selection

I was wondering what turbo you guys think would be the best, I am looking for a turbo that can get me into the low 12s, and I was wondering if a EVO III could do that. I have heard that the t28 is really overrated also so I'm wondering what you guys think about it.

Try out the EVO3 upgrades with a 20g. That includes the 20g, EVO3 Manifold, and EVO3 O2 housing. Plop it in, tune it well, and you'll be hittin 12's in not ime. That's if you wanna stick with Mitsu Part. If you want to try out the Garrett turbo's, you have a choice of a t3/t4 or larger. Note that those Garrett turbos will require a different manifold, which can be more expensive than the EVO3 equipment. The EVO3 car is "capable" of hitting 12's, however, you'd need to adjust the suspension and gearing a little to get it to that time, and of course turn up the boost.

The T28 isn't over-rated per say, it's just mis-understood:D. It's an excelent turbo, but won't give the high hp numbers you might want. They usually top out at around 320hp(which is still plenty). However, They are one of the best choices for an autocross event though, since they spool quickerer than a T25 and pull as hard as a 16g. But since drag racers rarely care about low-rpm power, they don't think the T28 is any better than a comparable and cheaper 16g. I'm a fan of the T28 since you can put on an engine as small 1.5l and get phenomenal power with minimal lag. It's all about effiency.

That FP line-up is probly the LAST step a DSM'er will be going to. All together to get that turbo running in your car it will cost $2,000 for just the turbo setup. Then you have to run atleast 880's and with anything over 720's you are recommended to run DSMLink. It can get expensive FAST.

If I was the owner of that 96 GSX I would invest in this, mind you I am talking as if you have the standard wires, colder plugs, open element filter, boast gauge, MBC/EBC and exhaust.

S-afc II
550's
190lph
Ported Rebuilt 14B
Hacker Install Kit
Supra Sidemount

This will get you into the the sub 12.5's I have seen this turbo take a FULL weight 1G and 2G into the 12.2's repeatedly with these mods all installed. If you have little faith in that 14B, then go with a Forced Performance BigT28, it is UNDER-rated at best.
