1993 Subaru Impreza Crank no start
 

Can anyone help or has had experience w/ something similar to this? Its a 1993 subaru impreza 1.8 4 cyl auto. Cranks but wont start. Has spark and I'm getting fuel to the rail. Its a little dark and cold now I just wanted to gather some ideas tomorrow. Thanks.

It also pops a little from the intake once in a while and Iam starting to guess timing belt.

i would check the timeing and see if the belt jumped.. if not you might want to try to hook it up to a computer and see how the AF ratio is..

I was going to pull the upper timing covers and check to see if they spin when I crank it, but what will the air/fuel ratio tell me?

well if the timeing is ok, the popping in the intake could be the car taking in too much air thus creating a ****ty air fuel ratio not letting it start.. it is unlikely but still a possibility

Well I will use my scanner tomorrow and see if the crank sensor is working, hopefully I'll get an rpm reading on my scanner. I see where your coming from, I tried starter fluid the other day and it didnt make a difference. Thats why I think its the timing belt

well its not that hard to check the timing belt, thats the first thing i would look at

Yeah I know its like 4, 10mm bolts that hold the upper cover on, its just too cold for me. Its like 34* here lol.

Lol yeah thats the funny part its heated and all but I have 2 dsm's in there.
