91 GSX PCV valve?????
I have a 91 GSX with a lot of mods. I was wondering what kind of pcv valve I should get? I have read that they are made for specific engines. Well mine is 2.3ltr now and the boost I hope will be high soon. Is a stock one good enough???? I have a cool looking thing with a different pcv valve I made. Any help would be cool.
I have seen people without them and just a hose to a catch can. Is this something you can just tune through?? I have dsm link I just want to get running perfect. I figure a pcv valve could smooth out my idle. Car is still being built. Your input is appreciated, also I hate newbie up there too. HOW DO I GET RID OUT IT???? I think I have to just keep posting...
All emisions stuff is gone. EGR capped no canister and stock regulator gone.If you need to know anything else let me know. I dont know if I need to recirculate it back to the intake or if I can run to catch can and tune it out. I think I need a pcv valve either way. YOu tell me???
The PCV valve isn't for emissions. It's a one way valve. It opens when there is flowing positive pressure inside the intake manifold to pull the valve open. This sucks pressure out of the valve cover (or was that the other way, lol). Leave the valve OEM, there's absolutely no need to change it, even with a modded motor.
It's also there to keep the sudden wall of pressure out of the head when you let off of the gas pedal.
Maybe you should change yours since you mentioned blow-by in another post.

IMO, keep the lines as they are. There's a good reason it's there. It helps purge the oil vapors from the cover. A catch can won't do that, unless you put an in-line catch can in place.
