Default Advice on EGR Delete for 2005 Duramax – Worth It?

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a 2005 Chevy Duramax LLY with around 180k miles. I’ve been considering some upgrades for better performance and reliability. One that keeps coming up is the 2005 Duramax EGR delete, but I’ve read mixed opinions.

Some say it helps lower EGTs and reduces soot buildup, while others mention possible issues with emissions or CELs. I’m mainly using the truck for towing and occasional off-roading. Anyone here done the delete on a similar setup?

What gains (or problems) did you notice? Also, do I need a tuner or any special programming afterward?
