what is the bump on the hood for on the 99 mitsubishi eclipse gs-t

The bump on the hood is for the DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam).

yeah, the cam gears that drive the dohc rise above the valve cover and needed the bump in the hood to fit.

they had to cram that MONSTEROUS POWERPLANT of an engine under that hood.. ran out of room though.. its just too big!!
