Default exhaust flames

hey everyone,

im in wellington nz and on every thursday night without fail you can catch a good 200+cars at the hutt valley river bank car park. Anyway, last thursday night i was doing a lap with my mate and i seen a mitsi galant ('93shape) throwing blue flames out the exhaust. I asked a couple fullas if they knew how he done it. They reckon its done by hooking up a spark plug to your tail pipe. Just wondering if u need to run a fuel line down too, or does it run off the unburnt gas?? anyone out there know? i kinda wanna do it ....looks and sounds cool. Oh and does it harm u car in anyway? -peace-

Depends on if was turbo or not. Any turbo car can make flames come out of the exhaust, all you'd need is an Air/fuel controller and the dump tube routed into the exhuast system. Make it run piggy rich in the lower revs and then lean it out to normal in the higher rev range. Then turn up the boost and rev it up and down. A flame of anysizewill come out depending on how rich you run it. Run it too rich and the engine will bog down seriuosly. If it's NA, then you'd need the spark plug. I've seen some cars with just the spark plug, and there's hardly a flame. It's more like a little flicker in the exhuast pipe. If you wanted the big flame that can roast small animals, then use the return fuel line. You'd need a switch to keep from wasting fuel all the time, just usean actuator switch from a nitrous injection kit. As for the blue flame, that's kinda weird...does he have like a propane tank in his trunk? I've always only seen a yellow or orange flame...never blue...

This doesn't harm the car in any way. It may waste some fuel, but nothing else major. It's like an afterburner on the smokestacks in a factory. But if you make the flame too big, tell your buds to stand back or they'll be on fire

in Compact Car Magazine that have some kind of Flame Throwing kits available. They are kindof expensive (meaning its not worth it). they do have all different colors. SPYDER, didnt know what a turbo can make flames come out of the exaust. learn something new...
