Mitsubishi Xpander: Common problems and possible solutions
The fuel pump problem of Mitsubishi Xpander has become a hot topic among automobile owners. This problem is so common that MMPC had to recall the model due to this issue.
Not to mention the problems that a defective fuel pump brings, an Xpander with a clogged fuel pump will damage other components owing to the corrosion and debris accumulated. You may have to pay extra for new fuel pumps if yours is not fixed soon enough.
How to repair the fuel pump problem
If you find your Mitsubishi Xpander cannot sufficiently supply fuel to its engine because of a malfunctioning fuel pump, the first thing you can do is to locate your car’s fuse box and check whether the fuse of your fuel pump is still intact. If it is loose, you could simply push it back to its place. But first, check whether your fuel pump fuse has blown yet. A blown fuse won’t function regardless of whether it is connected.
Next, you may want to see your car’s fuel filter. With a clogged filter, your fuel pump may eventually have difficulties delivering fuel to your car’s combustion chambers. Another way is to utilize some fuel pressure gauge to check whether your fuel pump still sends pressure in its fuel line.
Keep in mind that MMPC has long acknowledged the fuel pump problems of Mitsubishi Xpander. So if you don’t feel confident about your ability to handle the fixing yourself, you should bring your vehicle to a Mitsubishi dealership. Then you can rest assured that your MPV will be cared for by well-trained professionals.
