new mustang motor?

Motor Trend - April 08 - SRT8 Charger on cover.
Ford is going to be putting their EcoBoost (twin turbo v6) in the F-150 by mid 2010. They are also kicking the idea around of replacing their well known V8 engine with the same twin turbo'd v-6. They say "The argument is that the lighter, 3.7-liter twin-turbo, gas direct-injection V-6 will produce more horsepower than the base V-8 and weighs less. While better handling, quicker acceleration, and lower fuel consumption are upsides for the turbo, Ford is concerned the market won't accept the engine."

WoW. I'm very very very torn on what to think about this. In one hand i like the fact that they are going with a technologically smarter, cheaper, lighter, turbo'd engine that will produce and will be capable of producing a lot more power with simple bolt-ons. On the other hand... it's a mustang. Simply put, it's a MUSCLE car, probably the most popular one and... V-8, period lol. <- not sure how else to word it.

if you save weight you also can go faster quicker, and if there is a smaller more efficient motor that can do the same as the V8, why the hell not throw the V8 in the trash

Out with the old, in with the new...

hance

Turbo>:>>>.>>>POS V8

(never really liked driving the V8s anyways

They've been turbo charging engines since the 20's. V8's have only been around since the 50's...out with the old eh?

i think the point he was trying to make is that the 6cyl TT motors seem to be thenewest of the bad@$$ engines (much like muscle cars back in the 60's, 70's and 80's) such as the new GT-R, Supra (newest speculation suggests it will be a v'6TT much like the gt-r), etc. not that V8's themselves are old.
