Vehicle Trade

It looks like I might be trading the eclipse this weekend for a 3000GT from Michigan. I'm in NY. Has anyone on the forumtraded a vehicle for vehicle before? I'm not really sure how it's supposed to work.

Do I leave the insurance on the eclipse until he gets home or is that his responsibility?I really can't afford my insurance going up if something happens during his trip back.

Is there anything else that I need to know? I'm not really sure if I'm going to be driving half-way or if he is making the whole trip.

I don't know how you guys will work out the bill of sale/transfer of title...having never traded someone cars before...but...as soon as you make the deal, get the VIN off of the 3kgt, call your insurance company, get coverage for the 3000, drop insurance for the Eclipse. I would also remove your liscense plate when the deal is made. I wouldn't put it on the new car though, the penalties for using an improper tag are usually worse than no tag at all. Most police will have some leniency for vehicles in transit...

when you purchase a vehicle froma private seller you have 10 days after the day of purchase to get tags and registration. it's super easy to take off and add insurance. jus tmake a phone call as soon as you get to the place that you are trading. cll ur insance company, give them the vin, add the vehicle and remove ur eclipse. it's really that easy.

True that, I just did the same thing with an Altima. As Ron said, its actually really easy.

VW is a good IMO as a matter of fact the golf is my favorite "euro-tuner"....problems for both are expensive...IMO (im sure id get e-hit for this) i would go VW only because of thier "benifits" in cargo and they are good to put enginemods in
