So okay, just sitting at home thinking of random things in my life, and all of a sudden i think of "what makes a car, a car?" Just wanted some incite to your minds as to what a car is to you. Example: Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 1999...Does the 420a make the car? does the body style make the car? what if u change the engine to, lets say a corvette engine, is it still an eclipse? how about suspension? what to you makes the car? everything is in play. thanks for the responses.

 

I say Chassis and body

 

i say a car is a car if you like the styling and the power it has, and that you feel safe in it as well.

body and chassis definately imo a galant and eclipse share the same chassis and motor but would anyone call them the same car?

 

100% the body and interior. Some cars share the same chassis, some share the same suspension, some share the same engine, and some share combinations of each. But no car by any 1 manufacturer shares the same interior and body.

What cars share the interior? Different bodies require different interior setups...

 

what about the name?? i mean like when you get a few cars like the talon, lazer and eclipse, they all share the same everything. but they are technically different cars because of the name and manufacturer
