Wheel opinions for Evo X?

Have enough leftover savings to get wheels and tires for the Evo.

Narrowed it down to 3 choices.
(My X is white for the record. Pictures coming this weekend)

Anyways... wheels!

Why not the x MR wheels. Those bbs are so nice

dsm1990gsx 07-22-2009 05:32 PM

I agree w/ TE but out of the three I like the Work Emotion CR Kai rims the best.

Because, and its lame to say, they're a stock wheel.
I want a little more aggressive fitment than the stock mr wheels.
18 x 9 undecided on offset's and what I can and can't run with the brembo's.

I dont see the lame in that. But if you must I voted already for ralliart

tidus10 07-23-2009 09:58 AM

i'll buy your stockers :-P if they would fit my car

BEAT 07-23-2009 10:07 AM

I like the black rims with red pin stripe 2. The Ralliart (your car is evo not ralliart model) and hated that Work emotions IT IS OLD SCHOOL.
remember the new style of rims on 2009 is should match the color of your car.

try putting Gun Metal or White rims. I prefer white rims with red or blue pin stripes
there is also powedered Milk color rims on this site
http://www.wheelsnext.com/wheels-cus...te%20Gloss.htm

REMEMBER DO NOT BUY GOLD,BRONZE or other colored rims for your White Evo X. they don't match with a White car

the only rim color that will not look so cheesy are Silver, Gun Metal and black rims
BBS Stock rims are Nice they're called Spider Spoke and the color dark silver.
You should have bought them and painted professionally but dont buy 19 inch wheels So it wont look like your a truck.

the 18 inch wheel is perfect for the speed of the Evo X you go higher that 18 your Evo X will perform different. trust me I've been there and done that

Sebba 07-23-2009 11:44 AM

The way the Work Emotion's are colored, it actually accents white perfectly.

BEAT 07-23-2009 12:05 PM

Look at this web site? http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3307274

A kid posted pics about, which is the best rims for his white car. He is actually pretty good on pairing the rims and with a white car.

take a look. But I still recommend a White w/ pin stripes or Gun Metal . trust me it will be a CHICK MAGNET.\

By the way DO NOT BUY the same tire brand from the old stock rims. I heard alot of complaints about the Thread does not last Long after 6,000 miles it tends to be BALD.

so be careful what tires to buy for your Evo. I am not sure what tire brand on your stock wheels. I had a problem with my Yokohoma tires it is good on rain or wet roads but when it comes to snow I was sliding all over. doesn't grip well on snow.

DownSouthX 07-23-2009 10:51 PM

I'm going to stick with stock fitment for now, and re use my oem tires.
Then put some Potenza RE-11's on the oem wheels for weekend autox's

DownSouthX 07-23-2009 10:52 PM

Wheel and tire budget is officially $1,600.
If I play my cards right, suspension could be ordered soon as well.

They (DE) also had bright green CR-Kai's on that car, which they bought from my friend David, which were on his RSX Type-S.

very true but they are still sooo nice. you cant go wrong with nice looking super lightweight wheels

sk8dudety 07-25-2009 10:46 PM

i voted volk, for some reason i've become a big fan of multispoke rims lately

BEAT 07-27-2009 07:44 AM

I can't have so nice Rims here in the Northeast it's not worth it. It wouldn't last long.

I buy the cheapest rims in Boston but they still look nice. but the not so expensive rims are black or gun metal. colored rims are pricier.

Why rims don't last long? the pot holes are terrible rims and other small highway debris. Chicago is the same thing pot holes like moon craters.

That car is from Florida it deserves to be treated right.

THAT ECLIPSE IS A SLEEPER ON PHOTO BUCKET. HE CAN ACTUALLY RACE THAT CAR ON WEEKENDS IF HE INSTALL RACING SEAT HARNESS AND RACING TIRES BUT IN THE STREET IT WILL BE SWEET.

EMonz57 07-27-2009 09:30 AM

I live in the northeast and I have never bent a single rim up here. PS I live south 30 mins south of boston. I have had my fair share of big rims too. I have lived in FL ,tampa to be specific and I have bent a stock Evo rim with stock advan tire on it. So you never know. It has less to do with the area and more to do with driving style esspecially on rough roads

BEAT 07-27-2009 09:52 AM

My rims on my 2008 Lancer is totally scratched from the front and rear.

I drive 60 miles a day to work from Natick to Burlington that's 300 miles on week days excluding weekends. I have more of a chance of getting to an accident or getting bent rims. Not only me but those commuters who takes 93 and 95 everyday to work just Imagine those guys from Rhode Island who traveled all the way to Mass to work.

Having flying debris hitting my hood, rims and under carriage like screw, bold and nut or garbage can make a difference when it travels 65 to 70 mph hitting my car and parking my car on a meter Parallel Park, the shoulder can scratch my rims when I RUSH because 10 cars behind me are HONKING SO I CAN PARK FAST.

I also take Massachusetts Avenue and roads around Boston, Dorchester Chelsea or Route 16.
especially now they are Repaving a lot of roads in Boston to prepare for the winter. You will see a lot of debris flying small and Large stones or rocks.
I also drove 25 mph on Route 9 with my daughter and guess what happened? I spinned and my rims hit the Guard rail doing 25 mph.

That's all. I am not lying I am just sharing my experiences from driving 60 miles a day. I am good driver but accident doesn't choose the person driving ,race car driver or not.

You live 30 mins from Boston and the road in South Shore of course are better because it's the suburb and you don't travel 300 miles a week like me.

Not only Rims that are in trouble in Boston but your Side Mirror too. Believe it or not

My car is a daily commuter it is not worth it for me to buy expensive rims. Rims that they sell in Pep Boys are good enough for my daily commuter.

EMonz57 07-27-2009 05:57 PM

Oh I belive you. However that has nothing to do with nice rims or whatever. I have had a few different cars. I have never really had an issue what so ever. It all depends how you drive on them. If your DD the car you are going to mess up your rims no matter what roads your on. If you get nice rims you put them on up here a few months out of the year. you should be fine like that. Unless your driving a buttload. I put 20k miles on my Evo and my rims were only slightly curbed and other than that the center caps looked a little pitted.

93 in boston is a wreck. Forget the wheels commuting 93 up their you going to trash your car even worse. which is what happend to my Evo actually. My paint was in rough shape on the front end

BEAT 07-28-2009 07:13 AM

Positively True
