Try checking out the crank angle sensor. If it is not working, you will not get any spark because the computer does not know the position of the crank to fire the spark plugs, hence the name crank angle sensor.

good idea, but I seem to have spark.

is there anyway to test the knock sensor?

So you are thinking the knock sensor is bad and it is retarding the timing so it won't start? I seriously doubt that this is the problem as a bad knock sensor will give you reduced performance but I haven't heard of it causing a starting problem. If you want to disconnect it and then try to start it just to check your theory, it is easy to do.

No mention of a CEL though? If there is no CEL, that will eliminate all the components that would cause a CEL, that would be a lot of things not to check. Check the web for codes for your vehicle and cross those components off your list, unless your CEL light is actually burned out. That happened to my brother as and after I changed the bulb, found out the CEL should have been on for several months that his car "was not right".

When you first turn the ignition to on (and do not try to start it) all the warning lights and CEL will come on and then some will go off after a few seconds. I believe the CEL is one that should go off after a few seconds. If it does not, then there is a code to be found.

Okay, you have spark you say, but is it happening at the correct time in the crank cycle? And is it a strong spark?

How about the fuel pressure regulator, or a bad common ground for your injectors. Have you checked all the fuses, even those in the engine compartment?

One more thing but I assume that you already have done this, right? When you try to start the car and it does not start, I would pull a spark plug or two to see if it is dry or if it is wet. If it is wet then it could be that you are not getting enough spark or it is getting too much fuel as in a bad fuel regulator possibly. If it is dry, then you are not getting any fuel.

finally started ?

Car finally started sat after new cap & rotor, fuel filter, & fresh gas.I had to disconnect fuel pump relay for it to start. It needed a little gas for it to keep idling & had a slight miss. Would not go over 20 mph on test drive. Code said multiple cyl misfires. Removed intake, changed plugs& wires; tested fuel injector- tested good with meter, compression tested fair, test drive seemed ok. Very low idle (550 rpm) & would stall. Tromped on it, got cyl 1 misfire code. Meter tested throttle posistion sensor, range was 3.5k - 6.5k ohms, mine was 4.619k. Part 2 of test ohms should fluctuate while opening & closing the throttle & only changed by .001 ohms. Could tps be bad?
Also put in some injector cleaner. Any suggestions?
