WTB: 2nd gen GSX
I recentley almost went through with buying a "mint condition" 2nd gen 98 Eclipse GSX off craigslist.com for $2800. I did not go through with it for a few reasons:
-I lost my drivers licence and moneygram wouldnt let me send the amount with only my temperary DMV's licence.
-I showed a few friends some of the emails to, and they said it was a scam.
This is this story that summerises what the man said.
He said that he was deployed to Wisconsin for air force training, and he brought the vehicle with him from california. He also said that he had to get rid of the car asap cause they were going to send him to Iraq. I asked if I could speak to him on the phone and gave him my cell phone number. "I'm in a military base and we have strict rules here, I cannot call you when you want." He insisted in using a certain online escrow service wich I could not find on yahoo or google www.onlinetitletransfer.com. I quickly registered with the website thinking I found a crazy deal on this car with only 49,000 miles on it. He said that the previous buyer paid for shipping using DAS before he got the bank loan(wich did not go through) and they didnt want to refund his money. So the shipping was "paid for", and all we needed to do was sort out was a legitemet way of transfering title and payment. He also told me to tell the moneygram worker that I was sending money to a relitive to avoid tax fees when I was sending the moneygram. He sent me a photo ID of his Airforce ID and the vin number of the car, to prove it was him. He stated that he had another buyer waiting to send a moneygram if I could not.
After I told him that I lost my ID, he told me to have my girlfriend do it but she is only 17 I just turned 20. He said next that I was waisting his time and he was now going to sell the car to the next interested buyer. Today I am curious to pay for a carfax report on the car but its a bit pricey. The website that he had me register on is now not letting me sign in to my account for some reason either.. So I am assuming it was a scam or what?? what does every one think??
So if any one has a 2nd generation Mitsubishi GSX that their looking to get rid of I would be very interested.
I have $2800 Cash and I have a friend willing to buy my daily driver for 2 grand so SEND ME A PM!!!

straight up scam, vehicle buying should always be done in person and a test run should come before cash exchange. I had a similar issue recently. Lady was selling a mint truck, dirt cheap and was in a hurry to get rid of it, she told me to send her the money and the car was parked at miami airport (only a 80mi drive from my house). Tell me that's not a scam!!!!! lol

ya and the worst thing about it all is that the scammer had me convinced that I was getting this awsome car. I still feel that I have the chance to get the car even though I know for a fact it was a scam.. they convince you like no other, and told me that I will recieve the car in 3 days.. SO GLAD I DIDNT FET SCAMMED!!

Let me guess, it was the silver one? I laugh because it has been listed from every state. Any rate, back to the old saying: "If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is" Stick to that and you will be all set. Look for something local, if not post where the location is so someone can check it out for you. Thats what I did, I am in the Northeast and found one in cali, posted it on DSMTuners.com and found a fellow DSM'er out that way.....
