Default ABS light 02 Montero Sport

My ABS light just recently came on. Took my vehicle to my uncle to have it plugged in, and it's running back to erratic wheel sensors on left rear and front, and a bad ground to the right front. When we took it for a drive, all wheels are running evenly, and the codes couldn't be cleared. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Thanks!

The code will probably clear up once the wheel speeds are normal again.

Are you having any other electrical issues with the car?

Did you actually get under it and look at the wheel speed sensors/connectors?

No other electrical issues that I'm aware of. Wheel speeds were all normal when we had it plugged in and test drove it, but when we got it back to the garage and he attempted to clear them, it wouldn't allow it. The one time it did clear, the light popped back on within a few seconds. I just bought the vehicle in the end of September and it's had quite a bit of aftermarket work put into it, so I'm not too familiar with it. Honestly, I haven't had a chance to crawl under and check it out, and I've read on a few other websites that when those codes kick, it typically runs back to another issue if the wheels are catching speed evenly. I'm throwing out feelers to see if I can cut out playing trial and error on replacing parts.

It could be a faulty ground of some kind, a short, a broken cable, a bad sensor or a bad ABS ECU...

You might want to check a service manual for specs for the sensors and check you have a good ground from the battery.

You will have to do some diagnostic work to locate the problem.
