how to destroy an evo

this guy is running 30psi on his STOCK turbo w/ nothing but a flash.... daily driver. Stock turbo + 30psi + no meth/water injection = soon to be blown engine. btw, look how slow it is.

thats not that slow... he is gong like 120 or somthing if not a little more from around 90MPH and he is in like 4th gear at least. He has some big secret on EvoM with Al freedman who tuned it. they are running something to cool the car. obviously it would blow up at some point otherwise.

and YES sebba that is very bad for the motor. anything over 24PSI on pump with out injection is advise to be not done because it causes lots of knock, and even worse oon the stock turbo since itruns hotter than aftermarket turbos

I wouldnt have thought it would be kocking.... my guess was thats what he was so proud about... guess not lol

lol, in response to the subject of this thread "Give me 45 mins and a wrench."
30Psi seems to be a bit much though... especially with JUST a flash.

Heat causes knock... the stock turbo is effecient till about 23-24PSI at most then it blows extra hot , on top of that it blows hot anyway cause it is so small. Add that too the fact that pump gas is usually a good cool burn untill over 25PSI that is when 93 octane fuel is getting to be to little then it burns even hotter and detonates that is why almost every pump gas tune never exceeds 23PSI or maybe 24PSI.

Mike, so ur saying he's effeciently tuned his car with this Al guy to make this safe? that's amazing. and yea, it definatly is slow.... not slow period, but defintly VERYslow for running 30lbs of boost. there are other evo's running 30lbs pushing 500-600whp... that's why i said very slow.

He is tuned by Al... Al is not exactly the #1 tuner out there many people dont like him but he works hand and hand with buschur racing often and he owns Dynoflash and the 9 sec Evo they got. Not sure what they are doing to make this possible but he "claims" they got a secret to it but would not share

for 30PSI I guess it isnt not fast but dude that car is really moving and accel pretty quick for a high gear high speed pull, specially on a stock turbo. the only reason that is though take notice to the interior it is completely gutted no seats no radio no speakers no carpet ect ect. that is why the car is annoyingly lou inside lol

i dind't really pay attention to the loudness. i just don't see how it's physically possible to push 30lbs from a stock turbo unles he's running like 120octane and a HELL of a tune!!! even then it would be hot as sin and not good for the engine.

120 octane would be more thanenough to run a 16G at that im sure lol. the things is the stock turbo cant hold the boost that high for very long. it will hold 30 till about 4500 then taper and fall to 22 before redline.

Did you know aviation gas .. 105 octane i believe is actually cheaper than premium... only problem its Leaded

Dont they sell something that will neutralize the "leaded" aspect of fuel?

Its gooood **** :D

In Texas its a lot cheaper than premium. By the way.. the lead is what gives it the octane points. Remove that and you remove some octane.

the Evo was running like a champ with it in there. I needed to lean the car out ALOT. mainly because on 93 my AFR was 11.1 with that in there after it mixed in my AFRs were like 10.1 so I lean it out and turn the boost up fro 19-20 to 23ish and wow it was quite fun. But lead deposits are not good for the car either or my wideband o2

Oh I love the smell too I just think it smells like cleaning supplies or something lol. But after you run it you always know when there is somone around on race gas cause it is strong an obvious. I raced a 06 STi last summer he was modded shooting flames left and right full exhaust and on race gas. i was on 20PSI just pump and my old bolt ons. I put about a car on him real fast then we had to stop for traffic it was a very short race and I was pulling so hard and I expected to loose

RE: how to destroy an evo

that's awesome. i don't understand one thing though... the difference in 93 octane and 100 octane is that 100 can stand more pressure before it combusts right.... so without tuning why does 100 octane give you more hp?
