First track race in 20 years, 10.9 and 10.7
Bremerton Race Track, WA, about 54 degrees, overcast
Haven't raced on a quarter mile track in about 20 years and this was in my buddy's Chev Luv. Great reaction time, foot braking, .037 reaction, 1.606 60', 6.76 at the 1/8th but let off at the end going through traps at only 104mph for 10.9. Second time I tried to use the trans brake and duffed it by not releasing the foot brake that I used last time, staring at the trans brake button I'd release but wasn't going anywhere, and had a r/t 2.776 but easily beat the guy beside me at 10.7 seconds at 125.5mph. What a rush. Can't hardly wait to get my car finished. Was going for low to mid 10's and now I think I'm going to push it to 10 flat and change my rear gear and put in a bigger cam and carb when I start on the motor.
Thought I would be pretty nervous at the light since it had been that way when I was in my early 20's, but was relatively calm at the tree. My buddy's first two launches were a little nerve wracking when he started to go sideways, but let off the throttle and coasted to mid 12's. Then he lowered the pressure to 8lbs and did a 10.09 and a 10.1. Much better. Runs on pump gas.
I know my run was not a Mitsubishi but there was a white late 90's Eclipse with Fiber hood there running. I didn't see the time though because I was staging when they were going and I had my hands full watching all the gauges for heat and other things. If you did run there, let me know what your time slip was.
