newbie to the website and had 1st encounter w/ur IX....

well i just got done racing my buddy's new EVO IX SE. I must say those cars are pretty fast!! we went twice from a roll and once from a stop. [sm=badidea.gif] from a stop he gets me a full car length, and once i grab traction i'm able to stop his pull and reel him back in. i'm walking him the entire time but nothing really impressive and he is bone stock! just how fast can these cars get in the 1/4 with simple mods? i know off the line you guys are pretty fast, but what about trap speed? at what speed are you guys coming in at the end of the 1/4 mile?

Im really pleased to hear someone with such openmindedness an sence. There are few of you sir!

EVOs with simple mods run 12s and the fastet EVO is 8.97 i believe by AMS performance. Now you might say thats nothing special and i do agree. At least we can make up for that with John Sheps Eclipse/Talon running 7s :D

Not too long ago we had some guy come in from SRT-4 forums telling us how the EVO people get ripped off because he owns them all the time on the street. Too bad he was banned before he could reply

yeah, we on Z28.com and LS1.tech make fun of those guys all the time. they always make sure to note that their car is not a NEON [sm=nono.gif], it's an SRT-4. [sm=dontgetit.gif]
so for more clarification, what does an average EVO with bolt-ons trap? My friend that i raced with the EVO said that when they break in, they trap around 112. [sm=insomnia.gif] is this true?

Yeah it is. They can run high 12s stock consistantly with launch.

IX will run 12.89s stock if a good driver is inside. They dont trap high at all but with basic bolt ons the cars are very easily in the 11 without spending much more than a few thousand dollars

The average I've seen the Evo 8 & 9's runs with modifications in the range of $1000.00 is between 12.00 and 12.7 in the quarter mile depending on the driver.
