94 Galant ES Lower Control Arms
My car makes this awful squeaking noise whenever i turn the steering wheel slightly past center in any direction. It started a while back and went away for a while and now it's back witha vengeance. Took it to a shop and the guy said my lower control arms are gone and that they can't be greased or lubed. He said they have to be replaced. The dealer here doesnt have the parts so I looked on ebay and I saw some curved ones and some straight ones. I need to know which ones to get. Can i use either or do they work in tandem (do i need both sets)?

RE: 94 Galant ES Lower Control Arms
the lower control arm is almost always straight. But honestly i would never trust ebay with parts like this. Just go to an autozone or other type of parts store and im sure they can order it for you

RE: 94 Galant ES Lower Control Arms
Thanks for the response. I went back to the shop and asked the guy and he said it's the straight ones. That's 2 for 2, so I guess i'm getting the straight ones. I'm in the Bahamas, so I can't really do autozone or O'reilly. I've bought a few parts off ebay and I've never been shortchanged or disappointed (knock on wood). I'll let ya know how it turns out.
Thanks again |
New Problem
Got the new control arms from Ebay. There's another problem though, I can't get the old arm(s) out. I got the two retaining bolts out (the long ones), but it's just kinda wedged / locked? rusted? in place where it connects to the brake pad assembly thing. I don't have any shop tools or anything fancy, just WD-40. Any idea how I can get that thing outta there. I know how to replace it so I'd hate to take it to a shop and pay a guy $100 to do something I can do myself.
