Today I raced a Formula Firebird we were at a light he was being cocky kind of asking ?'s bout my car and I told him it all. The light turned green while I was talking and he took off on me so he had a head start I romped on it holding my highest boost ever on my car 23PSI and was walking by him like nothing at the top of second gear just after third I shut down because I was going to pull away so far and just really destroy im but I was going fast already and had enough . Just proved my point to him enough to ruin his day. 12sec 2.0L vs 14 sec 5.7L hahahaha he cut me off later down the road and kept reving at me over and over again.

I know they are not all cocky but he was for sure. and I have seen these cars in action run 14s maybe high 13s with nothing apperant. My car is much faster than that so even if he was slightly modded it was no contest at all. HE looked like a fool in the End for being a jerk about his big bad car that got tooled on by a "boys" car.

Not saying I dont like the GMs because I do but at least know what you have and what you up against before being a clown about it

Yeah, i am a V8 guy and im not cocky about it. Its just the way I like to do business. Some hitmen like to shoot from a distance with a high velocity shot, like a sniper. That would be the turboed 4 and 6 cylinder crowd, such as the fine people of this forum. But some of us like to get that big, powerful, sawn off shot gun out and get up close and BAMB! Of course, we have to be close(thats the gas mileage and how it gets to us lol). Blow their head apart, either way, we like to goble up ricers! Yay! And the driver of that Bird is most likely a ricer in disguise. Had you pulled up next to me, I would have been more interested in your car, and more enthusiastic about your car. Anyway, what im getting at is that he probably didnt know how to drive it either, being a ricer in a nicer car without a fart can. Most of those guys will just rev it up and let it rip like you would with your Evo, but with no turbo lag and all of the cubes, the tires dont like it much and they will just spin them, as im sure you know. If you have a 12 second car on a good launch and you didnt give it your best launch, chances are hes an ass who cant drive and or that Bird has a wounded wing. They are good for high 13s stock, so I dont think he would have faded quite so fast had he been driving right. Nice kill though, keep beating on those ricers in disguise!

i have a few friends that own muscle cars, ones a trans am, the other is a foxbody mustang, but their cool dodes, and i'm more interested in shiny things, i like to detail cars more then race them.

i'm of a similar mindset. i've always been a muscle car fan (MOPAR to be more specific, but I'll take a nice 60's chevy any day too :D), wanted a V8 when i started driving but couldn't afford the insurance, so i found my first mirage. after a few months, caught the tuner bug and decided that the little I4 needed a little more kick. now i'm turbo and lovin it. point is, if you love your car and not a dick to everybody else, cool! someone else to hang with on the weekends and tinker with shiny metal objects.

LT1 TA stock run 14s from every single one I have seen and some do high 13s. LS1 well that would give me a run I think from a roll anyway. from a stop id still eat it up.

nope i don't know much about evo's but of what i have seen they are supposed to run high 13's stock and i don't think you ever stated if it was an ls1 or an LT1 because Lt1's are kind of slow. Also I am a newb on this forum true but I thought I would just let you know that LS1s aren't that slow.

LS1 are not slow I know that but they are not faster than my EVO if they are stock.

EVOs from 2003-2004 run high 13s
EVOs from 2005 range from 13.1- 13.4 depending on model
EVOs from 06 run 12.8s

12.7 stock??? HAHAHA what the **** are you smoking?? THey run low 13's with a 6K clutch drop, which frys the tiny clutch and blows out the transfer case. Real good engineering, Mitsubitchi blows.

LS1's run low 13's stock, without destroying the drivetrain. We're talking 230WHP for a stockEvo compared to 300WHP for a stock LS1. Not to mention V8's have this thing called low end power and torque, and they sound awesome, unlike your little buzzy gutless 4 bangers.

I would love to drive a low 13 or 12 second car as a daily driver of nearly any type. I like speed. With 10's and sub 10 quartersby me or my buddy under our belts, naturally aspirated, I talked to a guy the other day that was driving in the 7'sand I was impressed, and because we drove an all steel car he didn't give me a bunch of crap. Take what you can learn from all types of racing and motors and apply it to make your ride faster, not your volume of BS greater. We can learn from all types of engines and all types of cars. I have great fun driving our turbo Eclipse and I also have fun driving early 2nd Gen Camaros or mid '70's Luvs with big blocks. Have some fun and lighten up.

wow it was really interesting reading this thread, definitly one of the rather interesting ones. Personally i cant belive the immaturity displayed by either of two muscle heads, claiming that v8 is the way to go. I have 06 corvette zo6, and i wouldn't trade it for the world, but never shall i bash another person for liking japonese cars. Thats extremely unproffesional. My employee has an evo, and i think it's an awesome car.
Idiots like domestic boy should be banned.I've been building v8s since 89, way before street racing four bangers had even come out yet, hell the only four banger we saw at the time was the mitsubishi sterion, and that was really rare. Now their everywhere, and i think it's fantastic. i love to see evo's smash Ls1.or corvettes, (as long as it's not mine:D)

I guess thats why I destroyed an Evo IX on the highway the other day by about a buslenght. They are't fast cars. They can launch hard, thats why they runlow ET's, not because they are actually powerful. Gotta love the 101MPH trap speeds, what a joke.

you know so much. your a tool. go learn something. So I guess David Buschurs daily driver Evo VIII full weight full interior that runs 9.9s and traps in the 140s is slow too even though he would school you and anything you own. that is also why AMS and buschur both have 1000HP evo VIIIs and run in the 8s now too. seems pretty slow to me to I guess

I get a laugh when people call me a ricer. what ever. It is new age rice for sure but the catch is it is faster than your car and you suck at life and prob dont even have a liscence and wish you had $30 to spend on a car at 21 years old

I had a bored out 350 dropped in my truck, and the power that had was nice.. But theres no way in hell it would be able to hang with my 4 cylinder eclipse I have now.. Its not about always about size..

America has given the world plenty, but let's look at the facts here: How many components that go into domestic cars are produced somewhere outside the USA? Not bashing domestics, I drool over a nice 350 or Hemi just as much as the next gear guru, but it's not always about who's got the biggest engine or the most power. Sure, displacment is probably the easiest way to make big power (and in my opinion there's nothing quite like the sound of finley tuned detroit muscle), but lets take into account how much time and thought has gone into making a car that has 2.0 liters of displacment hang with cars that roll with almost triple that. That's a nice bit of handy work if you ask me.
