View Full Version : Horn sounds when very cold outside lmohaxx 02-08-2007, 12:17 PM Hi guys.. i have a 2001 Mirage and when it's very cold outside and i go to start the car the horns just blows for a while. Anyone know what the fix is? Thanks, Chris Lil Evo 02-09-2007, 12:14 PM hahaha, i think your car is posessed, try a priest. electrical problem somewhere, could be a million things. the only way to find out is to look at every single wire, make sure it's not stripped or grounded improperly. Sebba 02-09-2007, 10:07 PM I think it either has something to do with the current arcing or the contacts being effected by the weather. soundcolor 02-24-2007, 03:22 PM eh, just disconnect the damn thing... No really the problem is that your horn is old and needs to be replaced... Something has probly dented it, and so when its cold, the unit shrinks, and contacts the ground... replace it, or just unhook it... your choice. bugeater5 03-24-2007, 06:39 PM The last suggestion seems plausible, but I have an '01 Montero Sport with the same problem. Once it gets cold the horn goes off and I have to pull the fuse. After some research, lo and behold, a whole bunch of Mitsu owners have had the same problem. So I think it may be more than just a bad horn and hopefully someone will come up something. I'll start witha new horn, but I'm interested in the cause beyond just treating the symptom. |
