View Full Version : power mods vinson 03-29-2007, 12:50 PM has anyone found any economical power or mileage boosters for the endeaver yet, power is good now but can always use more, would be nice to bump up mileage too Dusty Eclipse 03-29-2007, 02:34 PM Replace your stock filter with a K&N... its simple, quick and saves you money and time in the long run... plus boosts HP and MPG Dusty Eclipse 03-29-2007, 02:37 PM Oh, oh... nammmeee droppppiiinnggg, lol. (((This advertisement paid for in part by K&N air filters.) lol j/k Seriously though, the filter should improve things. vinson 03-30-2007, 12:10 AM I have installed a K&N but didnt really see much power improvement or power gains, Has anyone heard of a chip or progammer from the galant or something for some improvments TheVerdict 04-01-2007, 02:50 PM ORIGINAL: Dusty Eclipse Oh, oh... nammmeee droppppiiinnggg, lol. (((This advertisement paid for in part by K&N air filters.) lol j/k Seriously though, the filter should improve things. ohh brother..... just do yourself the favor and save the 40$, read my thread on this product... Sebba 04-01-2007, 04:06 PM Based on what? Based on the fact that you claim to have lost MPG and HP? When it could have been aything that contribused to that? You have nothing to back that up... so you cant go round telling people not to buy them because of it. Its just not right and i wont let you do it. TheVerdict 04-15-2007, 01:49 PM its called a "consumer review" i dont need dyno sheets to tell anyone that and if you looked more closer another member said he didnt see improvements. you contradict your own self, you state my claims are invalid due to lack of factual data yet you assume it does improve mpg and hp just because its a k&n. shame on you. show me an unbiased report of the actual improvement of mpg and hp on the endeavor model to back your claims. Sebba 04-15-2007, 04:34 PM Damnit you are really begining to piss me off! Stop posting this ****. The other mods agreed with me in what i was saying and deleted the other topic. This one is now going to be deleted too. If you do this **** again im going to recomend that you be banned TheVerdict 04-15-2007, 07:01 PM I can understand the mods beingconcernedbecause k&n is one of the sponsers of this website, after all, business is business. but what I cant understand is your irational and vague comments on my review of the product. with your recent tirade on your lastest post, you've even seem to sunk to a new low. Sebba 04-16-2007, 02:11 AM Im just frustrated with you. I cant beat it into you head enough.. that you cannot base the performance of the filter on how you FEEL. FINE it is your personal preference... but that does not give you the right to advice people against it based on that. If you are doing a consumer review... then cool i wouldnt have a problem with you sayinghow you feel. But this is not a consumer review is it. You said flat out... you felt a decreace in power.. and there was a decreace in MPG. Thats fine... write that in a review. But in no way does that give you the right to advice other people against it. This is an information site. We go on facts, logic, and physics. If you have none of those that support your claims.. THEY ARE INVALID. Now... stop posting TheEngineer 04-16-2007, 09:35 AM 103 reviews....overall 4.42 of 5.00 Almost all saying they saw the opposite of you http://www.carreview.com/cat/parts/intakes-filters/k-and-n/PRD_49301_2876crx.aspx Import tuner magazine testing the k&N filter in the lancer evolution. This is a pretty unbias write-up if you ask me http://www.importtuner.com/tech/powerpages/0701_impp_mitsubishi_lancer_evolution_mr/kn_air_filter.html and the dyno that goes with it http://www.importtuner.com/tech/powerpages/0701_impp_mitsubishi_lancer_evolution_mr/photo_06.html There is no way you lost gas mileage with replacing a filter. There are alot of factors that change how you get gas mileage, especially driving conditions. Every single element would have to be the exact same condition for it to be a viable test. Somehow i feel this was not done in your case. And dont try and say "well i do the same comute every day". because even that changes on a daily basis. The only way i would beleive the mileage claim is if all you did was drive the same speed on the highway, fill up the tank, and replace with k&n. Then do the EXACT same thing again. Thats it. And if you look at the dyno the #'s for HP are very small, to me i doubt its even that much noticable. So for you to feel a loss is also just about as impossible. You can have your opinion on it. If you dont like them fine, but dont go around telling everyone that they are crap, because there are millions of people that feel differently. And your calling us biased, when all you have done is make a bias claim yourself. EMonz57 04-16-2007, 11:41 AM well in his favor. the K&N intake\filter have been proven to cause problems in the Evos. Just take a look at EvoM and search K&N typhoon im sure more than you can even read will come back in the search TheEngineer 04-16-2007, 12:04 PM isnt the typhoon an intake system though rather than a replacement filter. I was assuming he was talking about just the replacement filter, which i cant see making you loose anything Sebba 04-16-2007, 03:21 PM Yeah not the filter itself right? TheVerdict 04-16-2007, 08:53 PM you've included some very interesting points on the k&n filters for the lancer evo as well as consumer reviews. but you've made a mistake on comparing the same results from an evo to endeavor. show me the same dyno facts on the mitsubishi endeavor 3.8 v6 model, and then you'll have a point. if sebbe didnt cry to the moderators about my previous thread , you would have read that i stated a conical design filter charger would have better suited the 3.8 setup as opposed to the replacement filter/air box , you've also would've read that I wasnt knocking the product entirely, as a matter of fact ive achieved instantaneous results on a cherokee I-6 , as well as a filter charger setup on a lt1 caprice. but unfortunatly you wont be able to view the thread because another member produced no valid argument and had the thread deleted. for you to hint that "its a k&n, it works on every vehicle" would be a vauge statemnent. although I have no dyno sheets on hand, one thing that many who disagree with me dont have ...is a mitsubishi endeavor and a k&n filter. to say that something else is wrong is speaking blindly without considering the accounts.i immediatly felt the difference, or lack off , when I removed the stock filter. after all , ive got 50k on thevehicle so i know when something feels different.we call this a "product review". for me to say, "yea you gotta buy this part for the evo, it works wonders " without me owning a evo, well i would be talking without anything to back my claims unless i have personal accounts. bottom line, if you own an endeavor its not worth buying, period. Sebba 04-17-2007, 12:40 AM you've included some very interesting points on .........................[sm=sleeping.gif] Not even going to bother reading your post. Because im just going to get anoyed. Just shut the **** up. DELETE THIS THREAD AND BAN THIS A$$HOLE TheVerdict 04-17-2007, 10:07 PM your baseless imbecilic comments throughout this thread have proven absolutly nothing but the factyou lack any sense. if you cant contribute anything valid then dont say much because its just proving me more and more of an idiot im dealing with. Sebba 04-17-2007, 10:18 PM AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA yes... ok... i lack sence. Now just **** off PLEASE TheVerdict 04-17-2007, 10:33 PM weak. now gocry to the moderatorsandsit! not my fault you have a fallible mind. vinson 04-18-2007, 12:51 AM I guess it doent really matter which one of you two are more right or wrong it is nice to see each of your maturity level s and get past your personal sob storys and share if there is some power mods for the endeaver . Obviosrlyyou girls cant agree on the K&N but dont relly know to much other than air filters so maybe each of you should bugger off and come back when you can learn to get along.!!!! good night girls now go to your chat room some where else!!!!! Sebba 04-18-2007, 01:06 AM Learn your place noob. You dont get to play big boy of the playground just yet :D vinson 04-18-2007, 01:12 AM what ever sobbya i started the thread if you dont have anything positive or relevant to add than find another thread to jack with Sebba 04-18-2007, 01:23 AM Shut the **** up. I explained and backed up EVERYTHING i said in his previous bull**** K&N filter bashing spree. Now, he has moved onto this thread. I refuse to explain everything all over again. You where not around when it was going on so stay out of it. Second thought... why the hell not K&N filters: Theycan be usedfor life. When they get dirty.. just wash them in the sink. No other filter offers this. They never have to be replaced unless they are damaged and thats not likely to be due to quality.. more like missuse. They test the filter for each car they sell one with. They work simply by removing some of the restriction. Allowing for air to flow more freely. What is being argued here is he basically said it sucked and caused him to lose both MPG and power. He has gone around telling people to stay away from them. That is what i have a problem with. Do you really think dealerships would sell these filters as an option for their cars if they where peices of ****? NO! There is no possible way that he can claim to have lost power and MPG. There are SOO many other factors that could have caused it and he just has no way to prove it. Instead he just says... he felt it.. and he knows how his car felt. You cantwrite something that you say isfactual based on that...Lets look at the other variables. Temperature has an effect on both. Without knowing the intake temps with and without the filter that is not a fair test. The gas you use is probably the biggest factor. These could easily have caused both a decreace in MPG and power... That could easily have been caused by either of those variables. You simply cant say for a fact that it was the filter.. its just bull****! If he wanted to write a consumer review.. thats fine.. WRITE ONE! But this is a website based on fact backed up by logic and physics and what has already been proven to be true. None of those he has. So, his claims are INVALID. TheEngineer 04-18-2007, 11:04 AM I happen to agree with theverdict on alot of this. If he wants to do a consumer review on it that is his perogative. And here is not just a place to post fact, or however you put it. We also like to hear what people "think" about stuff. I dont mind a thread said he doesnt like it, because there are, im sure, other that do like the product. If no one said what they thought of a product, then people would never know if half the stuff is any good. Im not saying that i agree with his claim, because i dont. But its his opinion. I dont agree however with how he goes around everywhere posting to not buy them for other vehicles simply because of his bad experience. But the crap that is going on in this thread is complete and utter non-sense bickering. And if it continues i will close it. Argue against his points with facts and data, not crap like "your an idiot". Cuz that does nothing for the site. I understand your point the verdict about my post being of a different vehicle and that all cars are different. I would try and find something for your specific car, unfortunately i have not been unsuccessful. Dusty Eclipse 04-18-2007, 11:18 AM Seb, theres much more entertaining people to exploit the stupidity of... this one isnt worth it... theres funnier battles to be had. Just avoid the thread. If he dont like K&N, fine. Let him get a different filter. Noones saying either of you are wrong or right but eachother... Who cares if he thinks he can get better gas mileage by sticking a ****ing GERBIL in his intake... Let him do what hes gonna do.. Its not costing you anything, and later if/when the guy comes back saying his gas mileage sucks and his power is still not all there, THEN thats when you get to be the official "I told you so" guy... Which, IMO is always funnier... Sebba 04-18-2007, 08:18 PM I totally agree with both of you. I said i have no problem with him posting a consumer review. If he wants to do that.. then fine. But DONT go round bashing it telling people to stay away from K&N based on opinion alone. That is not cool. |
