You should check to see if you can pull the front axle and transfer case from the same donor and turn your Montero into a 4x4.

 

Do you know if the front axle parts from the SR will fit under the MS? To be honest I haven't ever looked into it. I just assumed a 4x4 conversion would need front axle components from a 4x4 MS.

 

No clue. I just thought that if the back end bolted right on, there might be a good chance that the front end will work too. Worth checking out.

 

Just to clarify, in case someone reads this later, the back end of the SR did not bolt right into the MS. The spring mounts are not in the same location on the vehicles. All I was saying is that I purchased the whole SR rear axle assembly, removed the components I needed and installed them into the MS axle housing.
