Default choosing the right replacement fob

I have just bought a 2011 outlander that has the fast key system that only came with the one fob. I called the dealership and they want the outrageous price of $450. I seen a few on ebay and what not but all seem to be used, I have no problem with that as long as it'll work. The question I have is will all the fobs that look like mine work? I know it will have to be programmed to my vehicle and hopefully I can do that myself as the nearest dealership is a days drive away.

I have the same problem. Dealer wants over $400 for a new key. I called some local locksmiths and they can order identical keys and clone your old key for $225.

After doing some research, it's possible to purchase a used one on ebay, but it's a crapshoot as to whether or not your local locksmiths programming tools can program the key or not. I suppose if you can buy one cheap enough, it's worth a shot.

Also, mitsubishi had revised the fast key after a year or two due to some of them being wiped by EMI. So make sure it's a key with the circuit board revisions to solve that problem.

I bought a used fob on eBay with the same identification. The dealer tried but couldn't program it. The said they need the id tag that origionally came with it. Another dealer said that if it's the main fob, it can't be re programmed only the spare on can. Any one know what's going on?

Maybe you can track down the previous owner of your outlander and see if they still have that other Fast Key? It's worth the try.
