Default Outlander 2.0D 2008 jerky/lurching at specific revs only in warm weather p2141 p0487

HI,

New here.

Got a problem with my 2008 Outlander 2L diesel.
At about 1.2k and 2k revs if I'm not accelerating the car jerks. I can see the fuel consumption drop for this period. Its just for a small range of revs e.g. 1200-1500 and 1900-2100
If I'm accelerating its fine unless from standstill
Over winter its been fine, just started again this week with the warm weather.
This morning outside temp 8C and all ok.
Yesterday outside temp 20C and got the problem.
It doesn't happen all the time when temp is high.
I have codes p0487 and P2141 which appear straight away even in cold temperatures.
Apart from this the car runs fine, returns expected MPG, feels right performance.

I've cleaned the EGR previously when I had these or similar codes in the past and it cleared the problem. But there wasn't the jerky symptom then or if it was it only one occasion.

I have V's at the throttle part of the EGR and the vacuum feels like its working. The TCV operates or appears to operate correctly.

Any thoughts - I've asked at garages and get the feeling its a try everything scenario which I could do myself.

I've seen mention of the brake sensor causing strange faults.

The cruise control sometimes stops working i.e. you press it and nothing comes up.

I could have a few issue. I don't really want to start changing the EGR/TCV if it could be something daft like a sensor.

cheers

Hello,

Did you fix your problems?
I have the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 DI-D from 2007. The same fault: P0487. Just the MIL is on, the car / engine works normal.
But I am afraid that things can go worse.

Best regards,
Dieter

Have you changed the transmission fluid?

Detergent - When I 1st got p0487 I cleaned the EGR and this fixed it. I've since got rid of the MIL by changing the TCV for one of ebay. But still have the jerky/lurching periodically. Prior to this I had just disconnected the TCV and things were a lot better

hi, what's the reasoning?
Mine is manual and jerkiness is rev's specific not speed specific.
Dis-connecting the TCV and now changing the TCV seems to helped but periodically I get this hesitation/jerkiness around 1.2-1.5k and 2k
I can see the MPG drop at the same time.
It's only on a steady or no throttle - when accelerating its ok.

The cheapest and best way to fix the issue you have is to completely change the transmission fluid. The jerking is from the gears not switching properly.

Hello,

I have changed the EGR and throttle. Both were broken.
I have also changed the EGR gasket with an VW original one.
VW part number: 028-131-547-B. It costs only 3€ and 10 mins. of work. You just need a 30 torx.
Now it seems to be much better.
