Default Upgrade Instrument Gauge Cluster?? Updated with Instructions.

Has anyone retrofitted a newer instrument cluster with the color LCD screen into an older outlander with the amber lcd screen?
I installed a new gauge cluster from a 2010 outlander into my 2009. I like having the speedometer on the right side(my arm blocks the left one) and the backlight actually works during the day. Plus the color LCD is awesome. See attached PDF for instructions.

UPDATED with Instructions, see attached PDF to get pictures.

Good luck.. Hopefully the BCM is part of ETACS and not the cluster...

I don't recall seeing anything about the mileage in ETACS but it may be a MUTIII only thing... You can ask Vad, he'll probably know.

If the BCM is in the cluster you will probably need to take it to a dealer to get the security module programmed before you can start the car.

After doing more research, it appears that the EVO/Lancer people are already doing this mod and it's fully physically plug and play. The only thing is the mileage is stored in the cluster EEprom. The EVO/Lancer clusters are the same part numbers as ours because the outlander uses the same interior.

So it appears i'll need to remove the EEprom chip, take a dump, then change a few hex bytes to match the mileage of my current cluster. Then reprogram the eeprom. Doesn't seem too hard. The worst i'm out is $90 for the cluster and $10 for the programmer.

I'll take pictures and do a full write up. This may become a sticky thread.

Cluster came in, i took it apart and it appears to be using EEPROM Chip S93C86.

I found a software and hardware package which was specifically designed to do this kind of work, called CARPROG. You can buy it on ebay, aliexpress, amazon etc... Tonight im going to buy the kit with 21 adapters and software.

So it'll probably be another 2 weeks before i'm able to program and install everything.

Sorry for the late reply, i finally got off my butt and did the swap. It took way less time to do than i thought, literally just 4 screws, takes 5 minutes to swap out.

I'll do a write up tomorrow. I couldn't get the mileage exactly correct, i ended up adding about 130 miles to the odometer, which is fine.
