Default 93 3000 gt stuck in 3rd or 4th gear

Can anybody out there tell what i need to do about fixing this problem. My 93 3000 gt act as if its stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. It takes off slow but when it reaches 3rd or 4th gear it runs normal. Can anyone tell me more about what causes failsafe mode or limpmode as some would call it. Its driving me crazy. Please someone save me. I feel like i'm on a island all along.

Is your 3k and auto or manual? I'm not sure of the workings of limp-mode, but I don't think it would let you get up to a high enough speed to get into 4th gear. Maybe check your trans fluid? I had a friend put way too much fluid in his neon not too long ago and it fell on its face in first and second gear. Then it ran normally in the higher gears. We bled some fluid out and it fixed it. Just an idea.

your stuck in limp mode. There's something wrong with the trans. Where are you located? Bring it to a TRUSTED shop and have them diagnose the problem.

I have a good used automatic transmission for $800, but we're a bit of a drive from you(about 8 hours according to google).

Give IPS Motorsports a call. They're pretty proficient in the 3000GT's/ Stealth's and are a good bunch of guys. http://www.ipsmotorsports.net/index.php

They're about 2 hours from cincinnati, but absolutely worth the drive for peace of mind.

Cool

Hey your the best Girly vr-4.. Thinking about getting that transmission from maybe can get it shipped if that's the problem. There's no check light on or anything that's the weird part.
