Question Check Engine: P0505 Code

Hi All! I am new at this whole forum thing, so I apologize ahead of time.

I drive a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant ES. A few months ago, after I had my transmission changed (the old one burnt out), a check engine light came on. When I got it checked out, the code it returns is P0505, Idle Control System Malfunction. My car is giving me issues it wasn't giving me before: it's taking several minutes to warm up (A LOT more than before), God forbid I try to drive her a few minutes before it is fully warmed up, if I even attempt it, everytime I have to stop (for a stop sign, or a red light), she will shake and turn off. Sometimes when I am driving at lower speeds and I try to accelerate, it seems that she has difficulty and it feels like if she's pausing before getting faster. If I break a little harder than normal, she shakes and sometimes turns off.

I have taken her to different mechanics, and each one tells me something different, some say I have to change the TPS senor (throttle position sensor), another one said I had to clean or replace the "air intake".

Winter is coming, and I've noticed I get more troubles this way, so I want to fix the issue before it starts snowing. Do any of you have any idea what this might be, that way if I am going to spend 200-300 fixing an issue, it fixes it!

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks and try replacing the iac, they tend to go bad often.

the IAC motor IS the problem. fixing the trans had nothing to do with it going bad. just bad luck. that motor is kinda expensive, around 350.00. you have to remove the throttle body to replace it also. will need a throttle body gasket too. this is a fairly common problem with that body style of galant. 94-98. all had same motor 2.4L.
