Instead of completely rebuilding the motor in the 97 3000GT we bought, can I use a small GM crate motor? Or would it be better to buy a second Mitsubishi motor and rebuild it as I go along?

There are no major problems with the current motor but with 138000 plus miles I would like to either change or rebuild one over a period of time. Hopefully, within the next 3-6 months.

That would be a site to see and hear.....a 3/S with a 350 in it...haha

You're trying to re-invent the wheel here with that conversion. Do you have a base model, SL, or VR-4? I'd stick with the Mitsu Motor.

There's a 3/S with a supercharged 440 in it... vr440. google search it

why meddle with it if there is nothing wrong with it my friend my motor has 106000 miles and its still sweet

I agree i am over 170k and still running strong.. not that i ever run it strong.. well.. maybe to shut those kids up in those stupid rice-burners once a month..
