Im about to buy a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse for 1500$.

Main question is, does it have airbags? If not, could they be added?

Also, anything i should look out for? Im going to test drive it tomorow afternoon.

yes it does

 

airbags on the 93 are optional...mine personally does not have them but i saw a few 1g's that did have them. im also personally not a big fan of airbags i had one go off on me with my first car and i was in a daze for a day and a half from it. perhaps they save lifes but i can do without them...also if your airbags go off the car is totaled they are VERY expensive to replace.

 

I am not sure about your particular year, But I have owned 3 1G eclipses and none had airbags. If your prospective car has them, The center of the steering wheel will be larger and airbag, or SRS or something of that sort is usually written right on it. 1G eclipse steering wheels without airbags have a small circular center with only the DSM emblem in the center and are three-spoke in design. Somebody correct me If I am wrong.

 

I believe you're right about the airbags and it'll be QUITE expensive to have them installed. Also the passenger side will have a piece that will look like it'll pop out (Though neither may necessarily say SRS or airbag or anything my sentra's airbags have no special markings)

 

airbags are a silly thing to worry about...make sure it's got a rippin engine and a clean body...who cares if you get caught in a bloddy mess? I mean... go down in style!

Airbags are for people who want to live past 25! I on the other hand could go any day now and leave all my bills behind!

 

The airbags alone will cost more than double of what you paid for the car!

Hey wait a sec I lived past 25 and mine doesn't have airbags!! Screw the bags I'll eat wheel ANY day just to have the option of being able to CHANGE my steering wheel if I wanna!!
