Default 90 eclipse won't crank

Like the subject line say's, I have a 90 eclipse, I went to lunch today, came out half hour later and turn the key, nothing, car won't even crank, all I hear is a ticking sound coming from under the console, the lights, radio, everything else seems to work. I checked the battery, and it's good, car has had no startingproblems otherwise. Could this be the starter? or something else? any help would be much appreciated!

Starter. You said you hear a click so the solenoid is engaging.. its the starter.

My advice is, turn it to the on position and release it really fast basically making it click really really fast. After about 5 seconds of doing that really fast it should crank. If not then start carrying a hammer with you. When ever the starter gets stuck, give it a little knock on the case (if you can reach it)

Well, I pulled the side off of the console, and there is what looks like a relay maybe? that's what is making the clicking noise, I can't hear anything coming from under the car, I'll try the hammer trick tomorrow and hopefully it's enough to get the car home.

Did you try and get it jump started at all?
A battery that isn't holding a good charge gives the same symptoms....turn the key and all you hear are relays clicking, all the while the radio and lights still work.

Well folks, I'm happy to report I figured out my problem. I was positive it was the starter, so I began pulling stuff out of the way to get to it, seems there is a small 14 gage wire that come out of the loom and attaches to a clip on the starter with a simple 1/4" connecter. The end of that connecter had corroded apart, I simply replaced the connector put it back together and it sarted right up! all because of a little 10 cent part!

I want to thank you guys for all the helpful tips and suggestions!
