Default 96 Galant won't crank

bought a 1996 Galant ES with 4 cylinder, automatic and 92000 miles from the insurance pool. It had a light hit in the right front headlight / fender and bent the lower control arm. I did not get any keys and had my locksmith cut one. When I turn the ignition to the crank position - nothing happens. I think it might be something to do with a security system. My thought is to put it on jack stands and hook up a remote starter button and see it that will let it crank. Any one know some magic pixie dust for me to try?

Firstly did you ever start the car? if not its probably because you didnt use Mitsubishi's Key.call up a local delear ask what key(code) brailed on the key you need.

I doubt 96 came w/ a chip in the key? Check the battery condition and try using a prybar and hammer and tapping on the starter and see if it starts.

I know the battery is bad, but I have a good jump box and when it is hooked up everything powers up -- just no crank -- good point about the starter condition. I will hook a "hot" straight to the solenoid and see if it makes anything happen

its a voltage thing. Or so ive heard, old teacher for AC worked at mitsubishi and said there are two different keycodes...and they send different voltages to the PCM or some ****. not 100 percent accurate been years since I took a A/C class.
