Default Balance shaft eliminator question

Just got a quick questionabt the b/s eliminator, when you pull the front cover off and seperate the oil pump case from the cover is there a gasket suppose to be there?

there was no gasket on any of mine.
i just put a light coat of copper spray on mine when i put it back together
gaskets would throw the tolerance out

No gasket. I normally use anaerobic sealant.

I think they do, when they are removed it removes rotation weight off the crank which frees up some h/p. The purpose they serve is a smoother idle. Also when you go back to replaced the timing belt it saves a lot of time do just one belt instead of two and is more reliable since that belt isnt there anymoreto possibly wipe out the main timing belt.

removing the balance shaft does not really add HP nor does it really make a smoother idle. Actually removing it will make alittle more shaking since the purpose of the BS is to reduce the vibrations. However the one main reason that people do the removal is so that you dont have to worry about the shaft seizing and making you car jump timing, which will F up the head. Just one less thing to worry about breaking
