Default Control Arm

How hard of a job is it to change a control arm on a 92 Eclipse? My upper ball joint is pretty bad, I think thats what the guy told me, they want almost $300 to fix it, wich I really dont want to put out but its due for inspection at the end of the month and I have brand new tires on it. So I was gonna try and do it myself. I have the haynes manual is it a hard job and do I need any special tools to do it. Thanks in advance.
