Default Danger of short shifters?

I'm lookin into getting a short shifter since its a fairly cheap and easy upgrade but i was wondering how dangerous they are to the tranny. Some people have told me that short shifters are the reasons for messed up trannys but they may also just be blowing smoke up my ***. Anybody have any experience with these?

I have a short throw shifter and I have it set on the 50% less throw....I don't like it. I liked 35% less better because there was more leverage and it wasn't that much longer than 50%. 35% made shifting smooth. There seems to be more of me "slamming" the shifter into gear with 50%. Needless to say, I'm going back to 35%.
Is it bad for the tranny? I'd like to see where the shifters alone is bad for the tranny. Drivers and their shifting techniques are bad for any tranny, especially the hard shifters who slam through the gears instead of just shifting.
Also know that if your tranny doesn't shift into gear easy with the stock shifter, you will have to slam the shifter into gear with a short throw and with that there's a lot more shock on those linkage brackets and forks than before. The shifters don't change the distance of the gear fork's travel in the tranny.
The shifting won't be as smooth as stock anymore either. Think weight and leverage here and read first paragraph again.

Is it worth it? I don't worry about hitting my stereo, lol. Aside from that,it's all up to you. I'd rather have a shorter shifter (about 35% removed from stock) and stock throw over short throw shifters.
