Question ECM compatibility manual and auto transmission

On my 94 Eclipse 1.8 I found out the ecm is part MD159561. Does it work on auto or manual transmissions? Mines a manual. I read conflicting stories on the web, some say it does matter, others say it will work in either if the ecm doesn't say manual or auto.

Manual and auto are the same however there are two versions of the ECM for the 1.8L - the Calif. version and the non-Calif. version.... not sure where you live.

non-Calif - E2T33674
Calif. - E2T33673
