grounding wires?
ok my gsx has been killing me lately, the battery keeps dying on me, i think its because the sound system that was instaled needs to be re-grounded because its making a high freq, sound when it was driveable but every so often the battery will drain and wont start up, can someone tell me where the grounding screw is, and how to tighten it down?

Grounding screw for what? And a radio installation isn't going to kill a battery. If it was installed anywhere near properly then the amp should shut off as soon as the radio does thus ceasing to drain the battery.
I'd have to say you either have A.) Bad battery B.) Short in a wire or C.) Alternator on the fritz. Take it up to advance or auto zone and have them test the battery and alternator.

go to autozone theyll test it for you...i work there and its free. Just ask them at the parts counter for a alternator and battery test and a technician will come out and do it for you. Advance Auto also does it for free.

Also I agree about the Cap being necessary but it shouldn't kill the battery sometimes and sometimes not. He'll burn out the alternator long before it should kill the battery. It also depends how he rolls with the stereo. All the way up? Or at a lower more respectable level?

souldnt need a cap unless running a huge system APPROX 1 200W deck and 1200W+ amp i runn a 200W deck and a 1000W amp with no cap and never killed my batt i would suggest the alt check before buying a exspensive cap also anoth soulution insted of a cap if running abot 2000W is a bigger amp alt.
