i went to take of my exhaust manifold awhile ago on my 1st gen turbo. Well the botton right stud snapped of about 1/8" of an inch inside the engine. Well i figured i could just use a screw extractor. Well that didnt work i had my dad drill the hole for the extractor and he drilled it off center so now i can use it. What do i do?

are you able to get a screw in that spot anymore? if so, just cut a little bit out of your manifold and it will just be off a little bit. thats what i did on my car.

drill the whole damn thing out and use those thread inserts. If I can think of what they are called Ill post back. But they do work AWESOME. Sometimes I have torched them out and chased the threads with a tap. But then again, Im Michael Angelo with oxy/acetylene (been doing things like that for years)

Put the manifold on the car, and bolt it down, take a drill and drill out right where the hole is suppose to be, then tap in a larger screw. Your going to have to drill the manifold screw hole a bit bigger which will be a pain in the *** becuase its cast iron but it will work. Also to prvent this from happeneing use some never seze on the head studs/bolts.

ok i am going to try to use a screw extractor if that does not work i will drill out the stud and try to chase the old threads with a tap, if that does not work i am going to drill the block and use a 10mm tap. i work at a hardware store and we have a stud that is 8mm on one end and 10mm on the other.

i wouldnt sweat it, manifold studs breaking is common, and although its better to have em all, missing 1 or 2 isnt going to hurt anything

I was talking about the product made by penetrox called never seize. Its an anti sieze but just made by that paticualr company. I work with/on boats and I put it everywhere becuase salt air/water + steel + a week = red dust everywhere and reminants of bolts, screws... nuts.
