Default Looking at a 1g...

Not an eclipse, but a plymouth laser. Im not sure of the exact year, but its a neighbor of my parents. Ive known the guy for a long time, and he has had the car since it was new. My dad is his mechanic. The turbo was replaced with theECU about a year and a half back, and it got a new clutch in august. its owned by an older guy, and i doubt that he ever drove it hard.

what would be a "good price"? i read the pros and cons, and i wish that my dad recalled what year it is...but i do know that its a 1st gen, so any advice from the turbo guys? thanks.

depends on the condition... running condition, engine condition, exterior, interior... is it fwd or awd? any upgrades at all?

its AWD, stock as a rock (aside from the new stock clutch, turbo, and SCU).

i know that it uses a little oil, and it is burning it when youre into it hard and you back off hard...so im guessing its valve guides...

the exterior needs painted, but i dont believe that there is any rust or damage. my dad has been this guys mechanic, and he said that other than a little oil use, it runs well.

i would not be buying it as a project. i own 4 V8s, and a V6...this would be my economy car...until i got to modding it..for now, im looking for a better driver in the winter, as my old truck has 260,000+ miles, and is leaking coolant..i dont know if it will make it through this summer.

if you are just getting it for a daily driver sounds good. if there are no problems... i'd say 4-5k mabey? i'm not posative about 1st gen gsx/tsi prices but the 2nd gens get as cheap as about 7k... soif it were me asking somebody about this car i'd ask him how 4 grand sounded? prolly sound a lil low to the personbut it gives you a solid negotiating block... if he asks 6 for it you can always come back with "how about i meet you in the middle at 5k?" things like that.

I'd like to ask a question for you, Patrick, and I sent this to you too...
Does the laser have pop up headlights (1992) or does it have the fixed headlights (93-June 94)? If it has pop ups, then you have a '92 there, since that was the first year AWD was introduced in the Laser RS lineup and there's a 50/50 chance that you have a 6 bolt motor if the build date was after the mid-point of the production year. If it was built in the late part of 91 or early 92, then it's a good chance that you have a 6 bolt next door, lol.
If it's the fixed headlights, then you have one of the last two years, lol, and chances are good that you have a 7 bolt motor.
Another easy to tell, https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_107655/tm.htm

yes, the 92.5 < had the 6 bolt and the 92.5 > had the 7 bolt. but as far as i know... that's the only difference.
