Default Manual and Auto Trans ECU Compatibilty

Does anyone know if an ECU from a manual transmission car will work in an auto transmission car? Assuming the replacment ECU came from the same type of engine (1990-1994 2.0L turbo).

To answer Blaze GS's question, I bought my '91 Talon turbo AWD for $50 and it came with the auto trans. Believe me, not my choice!

You can but you have to also change over the injectors, injector resister box for it to run right. The m/t turbo ecu is set up for 450cc injectors while the auto turboecu is set up for 390cc injectors.

1990 stand alone year and 91-94 share the same ecu's.

Cool! Thanks for the input. Would there be any horsepower gain with the 450cc injectors, or any worth the price and time of converting?

Ya know, I think the previous owner did install a the m/t 14b turbo. Would I then need a m/t ECU and the bigger injectors?

Yeah u need the m/t ecu to control the 450cc injectors. There is a hp gain b/c the autos have a smaller turbo 13b rather then the 14b.

Gee Great! I just spent $120 on an auto ECU that I can't use!! Oh well, live and learn.

So, what do you know about this injector resistor block? Will the auto resistor block work with the manual turbo and injectors?

I may have to put the 13b turbo back on for now, just see if the engine is good. It is sitting in the back of the car. Thanks for all the help!
