Default NEW GUY Buying an Eclipse

Well, my neighbor has two 1st gen eclipses and he made me a deal. His daughter does not want to drive a stick shift so he said he would trade them for an automatic car that runs good and so on. So today I found a car that Im gonna buy to get the eclipses. Its a 1994 Chevy Cavalier for only $250. Im probably gonna buy it this weekend.

I dont know anything about mitsubishi but im sure I can learn quick. The stick shift one works and the automatic I am gonna use for parts. My questions are, what are some of the first things I should do to these things, just to free up some hidden power. As soon as I get the eclipses Ill take some pics and post them. Oh and it has 140000 miles on it, is this motor still good or is it shot?

Id get no matter what model they are, you could always resell them or part them out and get a pretty good profit.

Turns out its a gs model. The car I got for $250 is actually pretty nice, I kinda dont know If I should trade it or not lol. Its a 1992 Chevy Cavalier 3.1L Z24 Package, and it runs awsome.

lol i can guarantee you that the cavalier is faster then the eclipse you were looking at. the gs is NOT fast at all and they are extremely difficult to make fast.

Estraw if you remember in the 1st gens the GS could also be a turbo. There was no such thingas a GSt. But my guess is its a GS. Let us know when you get them and show some pics of the engine bay so we can let you know what kinda things you can do. If they are both only a GS non turbo then your options are pretty limited

The automatic is just a plain eclipse and it is only going to be used for parts. The manual is a non turbo gs. Here is a pic of the car I bought, Im still not sure If I should trade yet.
