Default oil leak

Hey, i had my car running perfect and just the other day it starts slowly leaking oil out of the top of my oil pan. i was wondering, is it safe for me to tighten down my oil pan or will it crack? i wasnt sure if i should tighten it down or automatically assume its the seal. Any help would be appreciated!!
thanks

It's an old motor. I would bet it's the seal, unless, it's been recently worked on. I say replace the seal. I wouldn't recommend a temp fix of just tightening the bolts. That's just me though.
Do it once and do it right.

Remember not to use a gasket and only silicone. If you use the cork gaskets that come with some rebuild kits you are doomed. Grey rtv FTW!
