thinking of engine swap later on
hey i am currenly running a 4G37 in my eclipse and i have heard its slow...i havent got to drive it yet hopefully sometime this weekend. but i was wondering if i was to swap to a 4G63, is it an expesive swap...and how hard is it?? does it require much fab or pretty much fit in? how happy would i be with the results..and also would i need a new trans or will my stock trans fit?
Oh wow... yea, the 1.8... you should really ditch that thing... ouch... but it may be less costly to just buy a 1st (or even 2nd) gen GST or GSX... its sort of a hassle doing the swap, and in the end youd rather have the GST...
yea i have the 1.8...i couldnt pass it up this guy just put new spark plugs and wires, stage 1 racing cluch, distributor and alot of other parts but i think this engine will be slow
Its def. gonna be slow. And the swap isnt all that difficult since i believe they use all the same mounting locations. Its just the parts that will be the expensice part. Like im not sure if you can reuse the tranny. So your gonna need basically most of a front clip from a 1g turbo and the ecu and wiring harness
now i tried to ask thi in one of my other questions but i guess people quite looking at it lol but how much would a cold air intake and a good exhaust help me?? and is it difficult to install cold air intake
Not a lot.. They will help if you plan on doing more later.. They will allow your other modifications to effect your performance more.. But them alone, wont do much and arent really worth the money if you dont plan on keeping the car, b/c you wont be able to get the money that you spend in it back out of it later..
well that sux.. i dont think i will be able to afford the engin and tranny and thats what it looks like i will need for the swap so i think i might just mod this one up lol
