Default Trans Identification

I have a 91 eclipse non turbo 2.0 twincam that was a circle track car, along with another 93 with a bad engine. My plan is put the 91 engine in the 93. The 91 was one of the fastest cars out there before it was wrecked .but the guy I got the car from said the 91 had a 4 speed. the 93 has a 5 speed and I am worried about ratio change. I get the impression that maybe the guy didn't know what he was talking about and the 91 actually has a 5 sp in it with a 4 speed shifter **** on it. I guess my question is, was there a 4 speed made that will bolt to the 2.0 ( same belhousing pattern) or how do i tell if its a 5 speed. and were there different ratio 5 speeds?, this is not the original trans.

To tell if it is a five speed shift the gears in the car can u shift it into 6 differant locations? if so there are five sppeds and a rev also i dont beleve they made a 4 speed manual eclipse but i could be wrong. as for the ratios if it is not a stock trans i assume the ratio is not stock either considering it was a curcle track car.

OK I have both cars in front of me, the wrecked 91 with suposed 4 speed (4 speed ****) and the donor 92 with verified 5 speed, transes and shifters look identical. were there any diffences in gear ratios in the 5 speeds turbo vs non turbo or year breaks that they made better parts or differences. the trans from the 91 was not original for that car. may have come from a different year. my plan is to put the engine from the wrecked 91 into the 92. The reason i am so worred about gear ratios is this car was one of the fastest cars on the track in its class. it is a "stock class" with tire limitations the 91 ran a 1/3 mile banked oval in second gear all the way around the track, 8100 rpms at the end of the strait 21.10 was the fastest it ran.

so just take the tranny and all out of the 91 and put it in the 92 if it was the fastest.

When the 91 was wrecked the axle shaft was drove into the trans and cracked the housing. My plan is to put the 91 engine in the 92. ARE THE 5 SPEEDS THE SAME OR WERE THERE DIFFERENT ONES????????

ok one mroe time if it was a aftermarket tranny he probably did some gear work besides the fact there was no 4 speed manuel tranny made for eclipse. the five speed stock tranny will bolt up to the motor unless he did some kinda dumb *** mod to attach a differant tranny but that is prob not the case.
