RE: oil pan leak
for the second time, you do not have to pull the pan.
Drain out the oil, clean up the crack, do your jb-ing and let that dry atleast a couple hours, fill her with oil, crank and check for leaks. |
RE: oil pan leak
Josh you are the man. Sk8...... just no lol.
As long as you FIND the crack. If its coming from the pan itself, then you can use JB weld... do exactly as josh says. If you dont clean it off, it wont stick. If the leak is coming from the oil pan seal... then in order to stop it you will need to remove the oil pan. Why replace it if you can just repair it with JB? Because thats ****ing ghetto. And thats the reason DSM owners get a name as cheap asses because thats all people do. Temporary fix.... then you do it right. |
RE: oil pan leak
I JB'd a friends Saturn oil pan its lasted over a year.
|
RE: oil pan leak
right, i wasn't suggesting that he pulls off his pan, just stating that it's not that difficult... and if he doesn't have the money to buy a new pan then he doesn't have the money... a jb weld is a good way to fix it for cheap until he can get a new pan... and like josh said it lasts for a good amount of time

RE: oil pan leak
Im not a cheap ass i just dont have the extra hundred for pan and seals right now. ( I know you weren't saying i was a cheap ass sebba) im just doing what i can till i can fix it. my rent is 800 plus all my bills and i have two cars so yah im strapped for cash quite often.
And thank you josh and sk8. |
RE: oil pan leak
yea exactly... this is just a quick cheap way to make your car driveable again until you can afford a new oilpan, thats respectable
|
RE: oil pan leak
Totally agree... but it sounded like you wer saying.. "Well if it lasts that long.. then why not just leave it" thats what i dont agree with. Not at all sayin thats you lycan

RE: oil pan leak
So i crawled underneath my car tonight for the first time. Oil pan has NO i repeat NO crack in it. it has a dent by the drain plug and some surface scratches. I swear the girl i bought this from is retarded she told me that the oil changer place said it was damaged and needed to be replaced. Its a small dent. ( i have pics !!!) but i noticed from the intake manifold down its covered in oil this has mea bit worried ( got pics of that as well!!) unfortantly i cant upload the pics until after im off work and can use my parents computer mine at my house is on dial up.
