i just put a rebuilt 420a in my 97 rs and the check engin light wont go off and its flashin the code 12 32 55 but i dont book to know what it means can anyone help me out??

 

is that a real code...i thought that all the codes started with a p letter

 

32 is your only real MIL code. 12 means that your battery was disconnected for the last 50 cycles. 55 states the end of codes.
These are Chrysler codes btw..remember that the 420a is a Chrysler motor. Those MIL codes are from the "key dance". A 2 digit code that makes it a bit easier finding out what's wrong with the motor for a DIY person. Although, those MIL codes are general area and the DTC code should be be pulled with a scanner to pinpoint the issue. The "P" codes are more precise.

Anyway, 32 is an EGR code. The two DTCs that 32 could be is P0401 - EGR system failure and the other is P0403 - EGR solenoid circuit.
This makes sense if you just dropped in a rebuilt motor that doesn't have an EGR system or if the solenoid wasn't plugged in.
