Default 16g boost control problems

i got an evo 3 16g and its wastegate is not activating, it has the internal 34mm flapper, it just spools up untill the bov spills it out which is way too much and not good for my car. anyone might know whats wrong its just hooked up with one vacum line to the stock location which i think is the stock ebc. anyone else had the same problem? i just want my car to be under controll so it can actually be ran hard not at a 1/4 throttle trying to control the boost. thanks

The stock EBC should not have the vacuum lines connected to it at all if you have an aftermarket boost controller. The EBC should only be connected electrically (2G only).

Good catch Needs! From what it sounds like, this guy has just one line connected to the stock EBC and nothing on the other. If that is correct, then the wastegate is only opening when it gets 10psi behind the flapper. That is fine, but you're only getting 10psi.

BTW, your BOV is supposed to release the pressure when you let off of the gas pedal. You don't hear your wastegate open though, unless you have an external vent and if you don't know what that is, then you don't have one.

i dont have an after market boost controller. the reason the blow off valve is releasing the air is because the turbo will spool up to 30 psi and the greddy blow off valve is only rated at 30 and starts to leak. the bov works how it should im just sayin the turbo keeps spooling up and i want to get it set at about 15. i have a 2g, so should i just get a boost controller and unhook the line from that stock boost controller

yes you should def get a boost controller. i have an mbc on my 2g with the stock turbo and after i got it all worked out it works great. i bought it from a guy who had the mbc tapped into the stock bc line.(not smart) lol

Okay. Did you get the 34mm wastegate option?
