I have a set of 18x8 inch (I think) wheels for my '99 Eclipse GS-T but not on it yet cuz I need tires...my problem is knowing the right size of tire that will fit it without rubbing anywhere when I lower mine...I am either going with 205/40/18's or 215/35/18's, I think I'll be safe with either of those....what does anyone else think?

The abslout biggest our cars can take with out having any problems are 224x18x40, Anyhting bigger and the rear fenders need to be rolled. Also if you go that big the car cant be lowered more than an inch the bach wheels will rub agenst the assymebly.

Thanks dude...I was kinda thinkin that too and was also thinkin not lowering my ride no more than an inch for the same reason and that clears it up for me a little better, what is gonna suck is that I have coil overs to go on it and that's what I'll be using to lower it...Not too excited about the ride those are gonna give me....I have a friend who has a '97 Spyder GS-T that is lowered and he put a set of 18 inch wheels with 225/40/18's on it just a couple of weeks ago and his tires rub like a mo' fo' and he was pissed about it....This is coming from a kid that put a Big 16G turbo in place of the factory turbo in his Spyder but didn't do **** else to it performance wise other than a 2 1/2 inch cat-back and maybe an intake but expected to get a ton of power and performance out of it and was pissed cuz he hasn't...Then he tells me that it isn't worth putting a bigger turbo on LOL...Duhhhhh...Not the sharpest pencil in the box at times [8D]

My GS was lowered 1.5inches and I had 18s 225/40/18 with no rubbing at all and I also had my BFG comp T\A drag radials that were 235/65/15 with a 15 inch race rim and had only minimal rubbing up front with those.

my ride is lowered with only a two finger gap, i have 18 inch konig imagines, using 225 40 18 and have had no problems rubbing at all.
The approxmiate rod hight of a 2g is 2 3/4 inches... how tall are two finger put togather...

The 3g's have more room under the wheel well. Most rim/tire combos for the 2g's are 18x205x40 where for the 3g's are 18x225x40. For the record if you lower a 2g on stock shocks more than an inch and a half the shocks are useless.
